Here is a list of suppliers that I have used over the years as well as other resources that may be helpful when making your own soap and other bath & body products. These are suppliers that I have had very good experiences with. This is not meant as an endorsement page and your experiences may vary. The information below is provided in the hopes that it will help people who are new to soap making.
Links to Other Soap Making Web Sites:
Soap Making: This site has step by step tutorials on soap making, free Ebook downloads, over 500 recipes to try, soap making kits for sale along with many other soap making items.
Soap Center: Soap making information, recipes, a list of suppliers and more.
Soap Making and Other Bath & Body Online Suppliers:
Glorybee: Soap making, candle making, candy making, bee keeping, and other supplies & equipment. They have some high quality and nicely priced fragrance oils that can be used for both candles and soaps! They also have some very high quality melt and pour soap bases. Everything you need to make bath salt, potpourri, and bath/body & massage oils. They also sell essential oils. I have been ordering from them for about 10 years and have had excellent experiences overall. I did not personally care for the essential oils I tried but I really like the Now brand and find it to be a bit less expensive.
Bramble Berry Soap Making Supplies: Supplies for melt & pour and cold process soap making, candle making, making your own lotions, lip balms, mineral make-up and more. They also have a very nice soap blog, recipes, and tips.
Sunfeather Natural Soap Company: Soap making supplies and equipment. They have some very nice natural pigments. They also sell pre-made natural bath and body products.
Swanson Health Products: They usually have nicely priced Now brand essential oils. They also have carrier oils and other natural additives that can be used in soap making and other bath/body products.
Milky Way Molds: They have very high quality soap molds that are made in the USA. They also sell soap making books, some supplies and candle molds. The molds I purchased over 5 years ago still look like they are brand new despite having been very, very well used. They sell wholesale and retail supplies. There is a $50 minimum purchase requirement for retail orders but well worth it if you wait and buy your supplies in bulk.
India Grocery Store: They have a wide selection of spices and oils that can be used in soap making and other bath and body products. For others that love to make Indian Food, I have found their spices and other products to be excellent. I have been ordering from them for about a year now and have yet to have a bad experience.
Natural Import Company: This is an online Japanese grocery. I've found the quality of the Mitoku brand sesame oils they carry to be outstanding. Items are also shipped very quickly.
Google Product Search: This is a very nice price comparison tool. You can compare prices of not only the product you want but you can also check prices of specific brands to see who has the lowest prices!
Other Online Resources:
Barnes & Noble Bookstore: Find books on soap making and other bath & body products, crafts and more.
Amazon.com: Find books and some soap making and other bath & body supplies.
morgueFile: Free photo stock for personal and commercial use. This site does not require a log in to download photos. Many of the photos of plants that common essential oils are extracted from was thanks to this site.
Open Office: This is an open source (Free!!!) program that is similar to Microsoft Office. I have both installed on my computers but like this one much better. Templates (also free) are available for download and you can make some very nice labels for soaps, bath salt, bath/body oils, etc. There is also a built in pdf maker that allows you to convert any open office document to a pdf. You can also open Microsoft Office documents and save files in several different Microsoft Office formats.
PDF Creator: Pdf readers may be free but most pdf creators are not. Some can be pretty expensive. This, however, is a free pdf maker. I have been using this for about 6 months now and love it. Unlike some of the programs that charge quite a bit of money this one is not a memory monster. You can convert any document to a pdf or set your default printer to convert files to a pdf file with this program (a great way to save receipts in a printable format and save some money and trees by using less paper).
AVG Free: Free anti virus and anti spyware protection. They do have a premium version. The only difference I am aware of is a software firewall which you would only need if you are on a dial up connection and identity alert. The premium version was reasonably priced the last time I checked.
